2018 - The Final AGM and Reunion

The last Mercury Reunion took place at Hamble and the Royal Beach Hotel, Southsea over the weekend of the 21-23 September 2018 and was attended by over 160 members and their partners.

On the Saturday morning the old boys marched from the centre of Hamble to St Andrew’s Church where, amongst other memorials, the relatively new school war memorial is situated. After the church service a wreath was laid at the memorial and Last Post was sounded. This was followed by a ceremony to formerly name Hamble’s new community centre after the school (The Mercury Library and Community Hub). This was followed by a buffet lunch in Hamble with local dignitaries and laying of a wreath at the slipway memorial.

In the evening we had our final Reunion dinner. It was a touching weekend but all agreed it was an excellent event and that it was better for the association to go out in this manner than to simply fade away.
