The route to the pier head that the boys trudged every night. They queued up on the pier whilst the Duty Section rowed all 130 of the boys aboard. Many mishaps occurred ranging from boats going aground as the tide receded to boats with 40 odd boys on board being washed upriver in stormy weather. Amazingly, no fatalities occurred in the school’s history.
