Adrian came from Shere, a village close to Guildford. Born in 1943, he was in Drake Division but ended up as PO Boy of Hood Division before going to sea as an apprentice/cadet with British India Line. In the early 1960s he left seafaring to became a teacher at a prep school in Fulham (London). He remained connected to that school (or group of private schools) for the rest of his life. Later, in 1976, he was appointed headmaster and more recently became one of the founders of the Cothill Trust, created in 2016, to meet the demands of the increasing Chinese population in London, who required an English education coupled with the Chinese (Mandarin) language for their children. This is the Kensington Wade bilingual Prep School that is is still very much in demand. Sadly Adrian died in 2017 aged only 64 and is greatly missed by his colleagues.
