Mark Stevenson was at Mercury for two years but at the end of that time decided that he did not wish to pursue a seagoing career and finished his education elsewhere. He worked for many years for Westminster Social Services Where he became the Office Manager and lived in North London. At one time he owned a small yacht, named “White Lightning”, where he could put in to practice many of the skills he learned at Mercury. He also enjoyed travel, especially to the United States, where he had friends. He regularily came to Old Boy’s reunions and kept in touch with his group of friends including myself. He reamained single but had a large group of close friends and will be sadly missed. He passed away in August 2026 after a long and stoic fight with poor health.
