Leonard Frank West – 2983 passed away on 3rd September 2020 in Oxfordshire aged 94. ‘Len’ was a Hampshire scholarship boy from Arlesford who, after Mercury, joined the Royal Navy as a Boy Seaman at HMS St George on the Isle of Man. He went on to serve at sea during WW2 including involvement with the D-Day Landings and later had various postings to the Far East. He left the RN in the late 1950s but maintained an interest in the sea and in civilian life he became an active member of the RNLI involved with raising funds in the Didcot area.
